Power Factor Correction (PFC) functionality is a fundamental building block in all mid-range power supplies for electronic equipment.

Our focus is primarily on power levels ranging from 300W – below which efficiency gains are rarely rewarded commercially – up to 3kW, which is roughly the upper limit for practical single-phase operation.

We are optimising cost and performance in key applications such as servers, on-board chargers, industrial, and medical power converters through a new generation of control and driver devices. Many of the techniques we discuss also have applications in DC-AC conversion and general energy management.
